THE NECESSITY OF GROWTH 2

“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Growing up in the faith requires that, one’s mind is inundated and renewed rightly with the true gospel of Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross for us. And this can only be possible as we make conscious effort to feed on the word of God . So apostle Peter told us “as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1 Peter‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬. The number one key to growing up in the faith is about building a personal relationship with the Word of God. So When Paul told us that he’s moved from being a child into a matured man, he was obviously telling us about a level of insight, understanding and revelation he has gained through the gospel which has greatly influenced his life, setting him apart from his previous  state of being as a baby Christian into a matured man.  *THE NECESSITY OF GROWING * “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Growth can be simplified as an “increase” in size, number , value, strength or even the mind.  One of the basic characteristics of all living things is growth. Hence any living thing that doesn’t grow with the passage of time and all other related factors is literally degenerating, declining, decreasing, decaying or even dying!  “Failing” to grow or mature is actually failure in itself.  A police man on the checkpoint of a road once stopped a butterfly πŸ¦‹ on its way home and requested for its I.D, the butterfly cheerfully gave him an ID card that borne an old picture of it when it was still a caterpillar πŸ›.
