*THE NECESSITY OF GROWING *
“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
1 Corinthians 13:11 KJV
Growth can be simplified as an “increase” in size, number , value, strength or even the mind.
One of the basic characteristics of all living things is growth. Hence any living thing that doesn’t grow with the passage of time and all other related factors is literally degenerating, declining, decreasing, decaying or even dying!
“Failing” to grow or mature is actually failure in itself.
A police man on the checkpoint of a road once stopped a butterfly π¦ on its way home and requested for its I.D, the butterfly cheerfully gave him an ID card that borne an old picture of it when it was still a caterpillar π. The officer inquired, sire I suppose this isn’t you on the Card? It replied no sire, it’s meπ. I only grew up to become a better version of myself.
Now, that’s amazing right? Of course that is how each and everyone of us must keep growing up to become a better version of ourselves.
As believers, we learn from the apostle Paul that, though he was once a child, yet he did not remain a child forever but grew up to become a man.
Growing up is our daily responsibility as we journey through this life. Of course, I’m not just taking about eating healthy meals to increase in size or stature but more importantly I’m talking about a wholistic maturity that affects every part of our being.
From our opening scripture, we can see three major areas of transformation/growth that apostle Paul described; his Speech, his understanding/comprehension and his thoughts/thinking ability/ use of the brain.
As a believer we ought to allow the Spirit to influence or dominate these faculties of our being to see growth. Actually, the manifestation of our maturity will be manifested predominantly in these areas. The way and the words we speak, the way we understand/perceive God, ourselves and the things around us and the way we think or use our brain. Selah
Receive Grace not to remain stagnant in your Christian growth and maturity in Jesus name! Amen π
