Man’s definition of righteousness is not the same as God’s definition of righteousness. Men are always struggling to attain God’s standard of righteousness by their works, yet when God puts his standard of weighing scale against man’s effort this is what He says; “For we have all become like one who is unclean [ceremonially, like a leper], and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment; we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away [far from God's favor, hurrying us toward destruction]. [Lev. 13:45, 46.]” Isaiah 64:6 AMPC
Interestingly, the message Bible puts it this way, We are all sin-infected and sin contaminated! “
So then what do you think can make a fallen man right before God? Certainly only God has the power to declare one as righteous in accordance to the high standard of his righteousness.
And the good news is, He has chosen to impute this graciousness to us by FAITH in Him (in Christ).
So the scripture makes us understand that , Abraham simply believed in the Lord, and God counted it to him for righteousness (Gen 15:6, Gal 3:6, Rom 4:3).
Hence, if anyone believes on the Lord Jesus as savior and confesses Him as Lord, the Lord declares such a person who was once a sinner now righteous with God. Hallelujah!
God made it this way, so that no man can boast. For that is the essence of Grace. It is of faith that it might be of grace to everyone who believes(Rom 4:16)
Now, to anyone who is struggling to be right with God in this wonderful relationship, remember righteousness is not first a doing, rather it’s a being!
It is the nature of God imparted into your spirit when you got born again (2Cor 5:17), that is why you are called a new creature in Christ.
You are no longer a sinner but the righteousness of God in Christ (2Cor 5:21).
Stop struggling with self righteousness and Sin, and start being who you truly are!
Relax, Rest and calm down and enjoy your ride with Jesus. 😊
Shalom
